How to help from home?
It is very important that you reinforce and help your child at home, but sometimes you do not know how to. Here we are going to help you with some activities you can do at home.
All this excersises are going to help with his/her fine motor skills and will make the process of writing letters easier. Your child will not approach writing as a difficult task because does not know where to start tracing the letters.
-
Find old magazines your child can tier and cut. Give your child a page from the magazine and ask him/her to tier it into little pieces.
-
Ask him/her to cut it from bottom to top on straight lines, zigzag lines, curved lines or "free" cutting.
-
Trace lines on a paper: straight (top to bottom, left to right). Curve (like waves).
-
When you bake cookies ask them to help you with the dough.
-
Trace the letters of the alphabet.
-
Write his/her name using capital letter at the beginning and continue with lower case letters.
Homework tips
For a successful homework you need:
- Set an area you and your child know as the homework table.
- Have a pencil box with the materials he/she might need (pencil, eraser, crayons, scissors, glue, markers and sharpener).
- If your child knows what he/she needs to do, make sure he/she explain it to you first, so you can let him/her work independently.
- If that is not the case, sit with your child and help her/him through it.
- After the homework is done let him/her check it.
These will create good study habits for the future!
